12.About Pub Quiz

Pub Quiz is really funny.Sonja asked some questions about reading texts,due dates of final essay...etc and the prize of the competition was make your grade higher.It was a wonderful chance to improve your grade but my group(Çarşı) is lost. However,me and my group members did not give up, we compete until final question.As a result,this was a really good group working to get know your classmates more closely and quick revise for final exam.

11. The End

Now our term is finished in Eng 101,at least I hope it.I really happy to find a chance to meet with Sonja.I think, I learnt lots of things from her. Also I want to thank you my presentation partners(Nil and Onur) for their efforts.Finally,I want to say good luck everybody in their final exams.

10. Killing us Softly 3

In the media, women portrayed differently when we compare with men.In commercials,women's body features(hip,breast) are the main focus than product.For example,lots of perfumes shaped by women body and some beers covered with women body. As a result, these products sell more than other unattractive products.High sale rates of products good but women who watched these commercials want to change their appearances because all women image appear in commercials with bosomy and flawless hip and features of a face.After that, women apply plastic surgery to reach appearance which they see in commercials.Eventually, they lost their sense after implementation so women become "objects" without knowing that.

9. Oral presentation

After our disaster practise presentation,our real presentation is better.We did not give to much importance on practise one so it took just few slides and everybody and especially Sonja was shocked.However we learnt lots of things from practise one and we worked seriously together for our oral presentation.After I watched other presentations,I realised that maybe we can put some scenes from film because putting scenes increase the audience's attention to presentation.I think all of us especially me made lots of grammar mistakes while talking.On the other hand, we have really a good cooperation so when one of us stucked ,other ones helped.As a result,it was a great experience.

8.About ENG 101

This semester I have learnt lost of things in class. First of all I learnt how to use citation and how to use APA. These techniques are very important things to write academic essay correctly and properly. Also we read lots of texts about gender and media and every people make comments about these subjects so I heard and learnt new things and I found a chance to think about them. I think blogging is a wonderful opportunity for all of us because I can share my ideas and my friends can read and maybe benefit from my ideas. Moreover,I can read other blogs and I look subjects from different perspectives.I think most enjoyable times were Pub Quiz and the day which Sonja made cakes for us. Pub Quiz is really amusing despite my group did not win because ambition to win competition kept us alive:)and the day which I called "relax day" is really good because we found a chance to taste Sonja's cakes.So I want to thank you Sonja so much for make this lesson more funny than I expected.

6. Truman Show

I really impressed from this film because we can see all bad effects of reality shows. The main character,Truman Burbank is not aware that every people watch his life. Before he realised that he is the part of the one show, he thought that he has a good marriage,friends and job. Also he believed that he had lost his dad on sea accident. I think this film shows that reality shows exploit emotions both audiences and people who take part in it to increase rating levels. For example,audiences in this film believe that all touching stories about him is real and then they started to cry with him or laugh with him. Also they watch his life without thinking their responsibilities which they had to do(barmaids make comments about his life instead of doing their jobs and policeman do not interest with people while watching this show).
Creator of this show Cristof said that" I create a wonderful life for Truman and outside word is a sick one ,he cannot be happy there." Actually this opinions summarize all producer's general idea about their shows because they directly intervene people's life and they design everything according to their demands,rights and aims without thinking people's own decisions.For example, in this film, Truman loved Lauren but he married a woman who determined by the creator.Moreover he wanted to go different places but every attempts were obstructed.

5.A woman on a roof

In this story there are three man who work on the roof. These man are Harry,Stanley and Tom. One day while they are working on the roof like every day, they realise one woman on a roof who is sunbathing. Three of them keep an eye on this woman. According to them this woman is a naked woman(even she wears bikini). They all start to yell and tease her to disturb her private life. Mostly, Stanley takes part in like that actions because he thinks this woman should be report the police and he said that his wife cannot act like this woman. I think this kind of man is everywhere in Turkey. I mean that a man who married but bother another women without thinking there are man like him can do same bad behaviors to his wife or his daughter. These kinds of man can aggravate every woman because for them appearance of women is not important,they just think they have a right to act like this. On the other hand, in this story woman do not care of man's actions. She conserves her silence. I think this is the best way instead responding man's bad sayings because women are just wasting their time while doing this,these kinds of man cannot irrecoverable. The other prominent character is Tom. He has differences from Stanley. He fells in love with that woman on a roof, he sees her in his dreams and he convinces himself he and her have a secret connection. However, end of the story, he talks with woman and he realised that everything in his mind was just dream because woman rebuffs him by saying if you want to see like these women with bikini, why don't you go to Lido?(Lidos is outdoor swimming area where people can freely sunbathing.)
